Evangelina Baltazar de Vasquez

Evangelina Vasquez was born in Irapuato, Guanajuato Mexico, where she was educated in a Catholic school and spent all of her childhood and part of her youth.

Vasquez came to Los Angeles with her husband in 1971 and began a new life with three daughters and the writing of poetry, which she was introduced to when taking Carol Lem's classes in Literature and Creative Writing at East Los Angeles College.

She has poems published in the college journal, MILESTONE, and POETRY/L.A.

Passing Angel

Passing Angel illustrates the healing power of writing, as a mother, who lost her baby daughter in a drowning accident, discovers her way back to sanity, her family, and God by writing a decade of letters and poetry to her daughter Leslie, who, unsullied by life, is an angel. It is her hope that this account of her spiritual journey will help others who seek renewal, having suffered the anguish of losing a loved one.
